Nendaz Freeride has had a week of freeride comp in Valais, Switzerland, all leading up to the grand finale, the FWQ 4* comp. These 4* events consist of the top FWQ riders as they carry the most weight when it comes to qualifying for the ultimate goal, the Freeride World Tour. We’ll even have a few guest FWT riders competing in this one. Should be one hell of a show!
The 4* comp will take place on the legendary Mont Gond with which has no shortage of big lines, steept, and cliffs. See the video below for a quick preview.
A quick preview of some of the riders curtesy of Nendaz Freeride: “In the men’s ski category, the Swiss have a chance to get on the podium with Maxime Chabloz, 2019 Junior World Champion and 3rd in the Nendaz Freeride 3*, Théo Cheli, 2nd in the Nendaz Freeride Backcountry Invitational and winner of the Nendaz Freeride 2015, and the promising Paul Dentan. They will also have to face the French riders Oscar Mandin, defending champion, and Solan Dejouy, 2nd in 2019. The same Franco-Swiss duel will take place in men’s snowboarding: the local freeriders Gilles Nevens, Florian Bouvet-Fournier and Florian Henriot, all three members of the Nendaz Freeride team, will have strong competition, among others with the French FWT riders Camille Armand, Hugo Serra or Ludovic Guillot-Diaz, already winner on the Nendaz Freeride. In women’s snowboarding, the Swiss Léa Klaue, who has just won the Nendaz Freeride 2* FWQ 2021, will be competing against the Finnish Mikaela Hollsten, silver medalist of the last Nendaz Freeride 4* in 2019, and the French Tiphanie Perrotin, who occupied the same place in 2018. The Swiss chances of winning this competition are high in women’s skiing with Martina Müller taking first place in the Nendaz Freeride 3* FWQ competition this Wednesday and Eva Battola.” |
